Bright Green Homes

Funding Insulation and Low-Carbon Upgrades for Eligible Households

To support the delivery of low-carbon, energy-efficient, and cost-saving measures for homes across the South West, Bristol City Leap is working with Bristol City Council, North Somerset Council, and Bath and North East Somerset Council on the Bright Green Homes project.

Grant funding is now available and will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. The availability of the scheme is limited, so act quickly to ensure you don't miss out on this great opportunity! Due to the high level of interest we have received so far, applicants may not receive funding until year two of the project.

Improvements availble through the programme

The Bright Green Homes project helps eligible households create warmer, greener, and more affordable homes. Funding and support are available for insulation and a range of low-carbon technologies designed to cut energy use and lower bills, including:

Cavity Wall Insulation

Insulation is added within wall cavities to reduce heat loss, helping to keep your home warmer and lowering energy use and heating costs throughout year.

Loft Insulation

Additional insulation is installed in loft to retain heat, improving comfort levels and reducing amount of energy needed to keep your home warm.

Air Source Heat Pumps

Efficient low-carbon systems use heat from outside air to warm your home, helping to reduce emissions while providing consistent and reliable heating.

Solar PV and Battery Storage

Solar panels generate clean electricity, while battery storage saves energy for later use, helping to lower bills and reduce reliance on grid.

Window & Door Replacements

New windows and doors are installed to improve insulation and security, helping to reduce heat loss, enhance comfort, and improve overall appearance of your home.

Ventilation Upgrades

Improved ventilation systems help maintain good air quality, reducing condensation, damp, and mould while creating a healthier and more comfortable living environment.

Electric Storage Heaters

Modern heaters store off-peak electricity and release heat gradually, helping to keep your home warm while improving efficiency and managing energy costs.

This scheme is not available to residents of social housing or temporary accommodations.

Funding Opportunities for Renters and Landlords

1

Retrofit assessment

A retrofit assessment is a detailed survey of your home that typically lasts 1-2 hours. The information helps us decide which improvements would be best for your home.

2

Retrofit coordination

During the Retrofit Coordination stage, a retrofit designer will create a Design Plan for your installation, including any necessary repairs and ventilation.

3

Installation

We will then move forward with the installation process. Although timelines can vary, our goal is to give residents a clear and realistic timeframe, so you can plan accordingly.

4

Monitoring

Once all work is complete, we will invite you to fill out a questionnaire to ensure your satisfaction with the installation. This will also allow you to share your thoughts and feedback on your experience.
